A. Eugene Washington MD, MSc, MPH ’75 is a highly esteemed figure in health systems, health care, and health policy due to his work in academia, research, and community involvement. As Distinguished Professor of Gynecology and Health Policy at UCSF and UCLA, Dr. Washington assessed medical technologies, developed clinical practice guidelines, and established disease prevention policies. He served as an academic administrator in UCSF and UCLA before assuming his current role as Duke University’s chancellor for health affairs and CEO of the Duke University Health System.
